Drop/Withdraw From a Class After Deadline
Reference: Title 5: 58003.1, 55024 58004, SRJC Policy 3.10
Excused Withdrawal-Covid (EW-Covid) instructions (Use for spring 2020 through spring 2023):
PLEASE NOTE: If you are receiving Financial Aid, an EW will affect you. Please contact the Financial Aid office to figure out how this might affect your financial aid. Please call at 707-527-4471 or email financialaid@santarosa.edu before you submit this petition.
- Student statement
- Last date of participation/attendance
- No refunds will be issued with an EW symbol
- EW-Covid pertains to courses taken spring 2020 through spring 2023 semesters
- Student should speak with their counselor if they have additional questions prior to submitting their petition
- Petitions submitted for EW-Covid after spring 2023 will be denied
Excused Withdrawal due to medical/extenuating circumstances EW instructions (Use for spring 2018 and forward):

- Student statement
- No refunds will be issued with an EW symbol
- Student should speak with their counselor if they have additional questions prior to submitting their petition
- Documentation of extenuating circumstances including but not limited to the following:
- verifiable accidents
- chronic or acute illness of student or immediate family member
- death of an immediate family member
- job transfer outside the geographical region
- the student is the subject of an immigration action
- an incarcerated student in a California state prison or county jail is released from custody or involuntarily transferred before the end of the term
- natural disasters directly affecting the student
- other verifiable circumstances making course completion impracticable
Withdrawal with a W instructions:
- Student statement
- Explanation of extenuating circumstances that prevented student from dropping by the deadline date
- Student should view their class schedule for each course. If you are currently enrolled, you may be able to drop in your student portal, and a petition may not be needed. You should check your class schedule for drop deadlines.
Withdrawal without a W (no letter grade) instructions:
- Student statement
- Last date of participation/attendance
- Only select this option if you stopped attending prior to week 2 (see your class schedule)
